Now, we can all agree a fish tank isn’t considered a completely habitable place if it is dull and empty. This can cause the fish living there to inherit invisible illnesses, and we don’t want that to happen. Here are some upgrades to prioritize first when purchasing a fish tank to put in your Vela One residence.

Filter

Water filters should be the number one priority when buying a fish tank. Unlike hardy fish such as fighting fish, other fish won’t survive without the oxygen provided and dirt removed by filters. Also, about every 6 months, you should check the filter and fix anything that’s worn out to keep the water quality top-notch.

Live Plants

Living plants are always good when it comes to giving your aquarium more oxygen and life. When you combine many different kinds of plants, it can give a more natural appearance to the aquarium and remove the feeling of emptiness. Also, they remove carbon dioxide in the water and promote helpful bacteria. When owning live plants, make sure to feed your fish often, as if underfed, they will tear the leaves in search of food.

Cleaner Fish or Snails

Algae will be almost unnoticeable with cleaning mates in the tank. Daily aquatic janitors, like plecos or snails, can help with the removal of unwanted algae, which is usually the cause of almost all illnesses, and make the tank’s glass harder to see. Many fish shops are sure to have any type of cleaners.

Light Source

Whether it is installed in the aquarium or has a lamp over it, it doesn’t really matter. A light source of any kind supports the growth and spirit of plants, fish, and coral. Additionally, it can be a different color and can make your aquarium more eye-catching. However, make sure to deactivate the light source before you sleep, because too much light can lead to more algae and stressed fish in the tank.
