Lay Down the Brass Tacks
Like any event, you will need to establish a solid ground. Think about the date, the time and the digital venue, or where you want to host the party.
It’s always a good idea to have it on the weekends and around lunchtime or afternoon so that more people can attend. As for the platform, do consider the ones that are commonly used, such as Zoom, Skype or FaceTime, among others.
Pick a Cool (or Appropriate Theme)
A birthday without a theme sounds boring, and to help participants get into the spirit you should let them know what it’s about.
It’s entirely optional to send out e-invites, but you should do it when you have the time. Post it on social media or email, and make sure that the theme is mentioned and displayed in the background.
Decorate Your Space (and Virtual Space)
Most video conferencing platforms will have preset backgrounds, but if you want to get into it you can physically decorate the space you’re going to be hosting in the background to make it look like a good old traditional party.
Don’t forget to add filters and effects as necessary.

Perhaps the most important part of a birthday party is the birthday gift. You can score some cool and unique birthday gift ideas if you know where to look. Consider the person who you’ll be giving the gift to- will they like it? Will it give them joy or be useful to them in the future?
