Lack of sleep may affect children’s actions, personality, and behavior. There are numerous reasons why this happens so often to many kids. It may be too much screen time, stressful situations, poor sleep habits, or a health condition that may be causing problems with your child’s sleep. Here are 5 tips to help them sleep soundly and get much-needed rest.

Set Boundaries for Electronics

Gadgets like smartphones, tablets, and TVs can be barriers to better sleep. Electronics set the mind active and its cognitive function, thus keeping your child from falling asleep. So it’s reasonable for experts to suggest putting away tech devices at least an hour before sleep.

Exercise Regularly

Exercising for at least 30 minutes a day during the morning or afternoon hours is proven to provide better sleep. Have a dance party with your kids, ride a bike, go to the playground, or take a walk at the Rivelle Tampines condo gardens. Exercising during the night can also help improve sleep quality, but workouts with high intensity are scientifically said to disrupt sleep.

Take Less Naps

Afternoon naps can affect sleep later on during the night, as you’re more active and won’t feel sleepy yet. Your child should do daytime naps only when they required, such as recovering from an illness, needing rest for injuries, or other possible reasons.

Create A Bedtime Schedule

Help your child practice following a bedtime schedule with appropriate and consistent sleep times. A kid in his elementary to middle school years needs more than 9 hours of sleep, while teenagers need approximately 8 hours.

Get Essentials for Quality Sleep

If the bedroom of your child is noisy, bright, and cannot be avoided, you can buy essentials such as sleeping masks and earplugs for kids. Have electric fans or an air conditioner set at the right temperature to prevent stuffy noses. Provide some extra sleepwear, pajamas, or thick blankets for your kid’s comfort.
