The hunt for the perfect Belize property is easy if you know what you want. First-time homeowners may face a new challenge when they’re buying a house and looking at possible properties for sale, but these four things should put you on the right track.

Size and Floor Plan

It’s not enough to get a feel for how big or small a potential home is by sight and looking around. You will need to collect information such as size and floor plans as well. A house can look big but have a smaller square meter footage based on its design, so do your homework and either ask the real estate agent or find the information on the official website.

Location

Location is so important when buying a house that it should be at the top of your ‘to do’ list. Belize real estate that is near modern conveniences such as restaurants, parks, and malls typically have a higher value compared to those in the fringe or isolated areas. Here, you’ll have a choice of whether you want solitude or enjoy access to shopping outlets and other perks.

Hidden Defects

Schedule a visit or a tour in person as much as possible. Photos and videos on the official website can only do so much, and sometimes they only show the best angles and parts of the house. Bring a friend or someone who has an eye for spotting hidden defects so you won’t experience buyer’s remorse when you make the purchase.

Financing Options

It’s more likely that you’ll buy a house using mortgage options through a financial institution, but it wouldn’t hurt to ask. Knowing how much you should put down for a downpayment or the computed monthly payment can make you prepared or delay a purchase until you’re financially secure.
